Fundraiser - May 6, 2005

Project Just Because, Inc. held its first monetary fundraiser at the First Congregational church on May 6th and it was a resounding success. We raised in excess of $30,000.

It is a start toward the dream to have a permanent home for Project Just Because, Inc. and move out of the basements, attics and garages that have been our workplaces for all these years.

So many families opened there hearts in so many ways. The silent auction offered a few hundred items for bid and the competition for the great rewards had people giving more and more throughout the night. Some people walked up to our "heart box" and dropped in cash donations to support our cause. Others took part in our dollar raffle.

State Senator Karen Spilka and State Representative Paul Loscocco awarded Project Just Because, Inc. with Proclamations from the State Senate and the State House of Representatives.

Whole Food Market created a special menu for the night bringing Chef Michael and a crew to make sure all had a wonderful evening.

New England Patriots' Steve Nelson came, took pictures with fans and signed autographs all night. Some families brought in items for him to sign, which he kindly did. To others he gave a picture with a personal message.

The hundreds of people who helped plan, organize and run the event brought out the very best on a busy Friday night. People made the time because they cared and opened their heart. It was truly a special evening jump starting a dream.

A very special Thank you to all who made a direct difference, from our heart to yours.
