We offered a different kind of tsunami relief. When approached by parents in the local area asking what Project Just Because, Inc. would be doing for the tsunami relief effort, Founder Cheryl Ann Walsh found a special project -- nothing to do with money -- just something from the heart. Project From the Heart, bringing a brighter tomorrow for a new friend cards began. Walsh got translated templates of well wishes cards for the children from the tsunami area and then found a relief worker who was going directly to Asia. The children at Elmwood School put out a large effort copying the templates, creating hundreds of hand-written cards in the languages of the countries being served. The project bought luggage and drove it out of sate to the relief worker who was leaving for the tsunami area. Children in both places have learned a bit more about caring and sharing.
February Valentine’s Baskets of Love Program: Baskets were filled with toiletries, warm socks, mittens, hats, and special treats, made with love from many wonderful volunteers. They were given to local children and mothers for the Valentine's Day Holiday.
